Who doesn’t love a good jacket? I know I sure do. Living in Maine means that a good winter jacket is essential to survival. You get a lot of snow here and temperatures reach degrees you don’t even want to think about.
With that said, there’s something so magical about snow falling outside your window. The tricky part is how to stay warm while you’re outside during that magical time. I really struggled the beginning of this winter season. I was constantly cold and felt numb in places I shouldn’t.
Until I got my new jacket. After listening to my complaints on how I’m not prepared for the harsh Maine weather, my dad got me a winter jacket. Oh my goodness, I am totally OK being outside in the cold now. I’m able to go for walks in the snow and not freeze!

A couple weekends ago, my boyfriend and I decided to go our local park and take some photos with my new jacket while it was still “warm” here in Maine. When I say warm I mean 30-40 degrees! Even now, with the temperature nearing zero, I am still toasty warm.
We were there for well over an hour, walking around and enjoying the scenery. The best part was that we had the park nearly to ourselves so we could be obnoxious with the photo taking!
About The Jacket
OK, let me tell you about the jacket now. I wear this bad boy every single day.
I don’t have a Helly Hansen store near me, so I had to guess my size, so I went with a size small (I’m usually an XS in tops) so I would be able to wear sweaters underneath. The small was perfect, I can layer a shirt and a sweater under and I can still bend the elbows!
Note: the “fur” on the hood does come off if that’s not your style! Besides being super cute, it’s waterproof and windproof which makes it perfect for a snow day. One of my favorite parts is how light it is. It’s not fun wearing a twenty pound jacket just to stay warm.
This coat has warm pockets for your hands and is long enough to cover the tops of your thighs. I chose a black color to match the majority of my wardrobe. I pretty much am always wearing my LL Bean boots with this jacket. They are also waterproof and help keep me warm.
