7 Ways to Get Ready for 2019

Anyone else not ready for 2019? This year has absolutely flown by and I’m not sure if I’m ready for it to end in less than three weeks. Every December, I like to do a few things to help put me into the right kind of mindset for the new year. It’s a time to start fresh and put any negatives from 2018 into the past and move forward in a positive way.

So let’s make this coming year the one where we focus on making ourselves the absolute best we can be. It’s time to start believing in ourselves and realizing our true potential!

For Blogmas Day Thirteen, I’m sharing 7 ways to get ready for 2019! So crack out your notebooks and planners, grab a pen and some coffee and let’s get started!

Go Over Your Achievements of 2018

When you go over your achievements, don’t forget to add in the little things too. It doesn’t have to be big things like a new promotion or you bought your dream house. Did you write your first blog post? Did you finally save your first $1000? Were you able to get 100 followers on Instagram? It’s the little things that matter in life so don’t forget to give those credit too! Life is too short to focus on the negatives.

Revisit your 2018 New Year’s Resolutions

Now is the time to revisit and reflect those New Year’s Resolutions. Haven’t thought about them since this past January? No problem! Chances are, you may have completed a few without knowing it! This is also a great time to push those goals even further for 2019. Maybe your goal was to run a 1/2 marathon, for 2019, make it a full marathon!

If you weren’t able to tick everything off, make a plan on how you can achieve them next year! Check out my 2018 New Year’s resolutions here! Instead of just looking at the list and moving on, think about ways that you could improve on them or what setbacks you had that preventing you from finishing them. This will help you create next year’s resolutions!

Turn the Downs into Ups

Life isn’t always about the ups, there are certainly downfalls scattered about. Take a moment and think about the things you weren’t able to get done this year. How can you work on them? How can you turn your downs in life into ups? It is so important to learn from our mistakes and make them into learning experiences so we can do better next time.

For example, if you are a college student and you didn’t hit your GPA goal, think about how you CAN achieve that come spring semester. If you didn’t save as much as you wanted to, how can you budget better for next year? Don’t focus that you didn’t do it, put that energy into accomplishing it in the new year!

Think One Year Ahead

Where do you see yourself in one year? Where do you want yourself to be? Think about how you can create and take the steps to get there. Maybe you want to buy your first car. What are the steps that you need to take? How can you budget every month to get you there? For me, I want to be graduated in one year, so I’m taking all the steps I can to finish college!

I’m definitely a planning kind of person, so laying out everything in front of me helps me see exactly how I can get to where I want to be. I would write my year long plan at the top of a piece of paper and then break down the steps that will take me there. Doing this helps you see that the goal is actually achievable with taking tiny steps! Here is a link to my favorite planner!

Plan Your Mindset + Way You Live Life

When it comes to setting goals, we all think about the weight we want to lose or the things we want to purchase. Those are awesome goals to set, but how often do you make a goal for your mindset and how you want to live your life? Make it a goal to become a more positive person. Maybe you want to focus on your mental health more. Make a goal to mediate or take 30 minutes every day to relax and destress.

Make a conscious effort to rethink how we react to things. Remember what the important things in life are. If you are upset that you weren’t able to get the grade you wanted for an exam. Think about how you can do better next time, move on and start studying for the next exam. Want a more positive life? Check out this blog post about creating one!

Plan for YOUR future

Far too often, we let others lead the way in our life. It can be easy to go with the flow and do the daily routine. Doing this can be hard to get what YOU want to get done accomplished. Don’t let others dictate how you should be living your life.

This is your year to dive deep into your dream box and start transforming those dreams into reality! If you have always wanted to start a blog, DO IT! Want to learn a new sport or take up a new hobby, START NOW! If you secretly wanting to go back to go school, SIGN UP for classes!

Now is the time to take action. Just think about where you could be from now. You could be finishing up your first year of a new school or be a pro blogger. Don’t give up on what YOU want to do in life.

Create Your 2019 Bucket List

Every season I like to make a big bucket list. I also like to do this for each year. The best way to ensure that you are doing the things that you want to do is to create a bucket list! Put down ANYTHING you want to do this coming year on it. It doesn’t have to be anything serious, add anything you want to do! This is where the fun “goal setting” comes in! If you want to climb mountain, visit a nearby city, go camping, or anything else, write it down! If you think of more things throughout the year, add to it!

I find that when I create a bucket list, I’m way more prone to actually doing it. I just love being able to cross it off. Whether you write it down or keep it in a document on your computer, have it in some place where you can see it often. Check back every so often to make sure you’re getting things done!
