5 Skincare Products for Acne Prone Skin

It’s no fun having acne. It can be a pain in the butt and I’m here to show you some products that have worked for me to keep my skin looking (relatively) good.

I have been struggling with my skin for quite some time now. It’s very acne prone, sensitive and dry at times. It’s what we would call “complex”. It changes during “that time of the month” and when I’m pigging out on junk food. I’ve struggled with acne as long as I could remember. Some days/weeks are better than others, but overall, my skin is super sensitive to anything I put on it.  However, for the most part, I’ve been able to keep my acne controllable.

I thought I would share with you my top five skincare items that helps keep my skin at bay. With the exception of the mask, this is pretty much my daily morning and night skin care routine. Now, I just want to disclaim that these are only the skincare products I use to keep my skin looking fresh. Diet, water consumption and exercise all play an affect on it as well for me! I’ve posted some vegan smoothies and a post about how to lower stress that also helps with my skin!

Friendly Reminder:

Having acne or imperfections don’t make you any less beautiful! Having perfect clear skin may help your confidence but won’t solve all your problems! Don’t forget that it’s what is on the inside that counts. People will remember your personality much more than if you have acne!

Yes, this is easier said than done and there have been plenty of times where I get frustrated with my skin. Times where I don’t even want to go out in public without a full face of makeup. I just need to keep this “friendly reminder” in the back of my mind when my skin isn’t cooperating with me. I try my best to keep it clear, but life isn’t about being perfect, right?

Aveeno Clear Complexion Face Wash

I’ve tried so many different face washes and my skin seems to love this stuff. It comes in a pump form which is great for easy access. All you need is one pump! There is salicylic acid in the fash wash, which my skin absolutely loves. Another reason why I can’t recommend this product enough is how gentle it is. My skin doesn’t sit well with harsh or exfoliating products. Because this is a foam product, it’s super gentle and doesn’t irritate my skin.

Simple Micellar Water

This stuff is a miracle. In the past year or so I started using micellar water and it’s completely helped keep my skin clear from breakouts. Before, I would wash my face, moisturize and be done. Now, I make sure to use micellar water after I wash my face to make sure I actually get everything off. It’s amazing to see how much I miss just washing my face. This product has definitely been an aid in helping my skin clear up. Being able to 100% remove my makeup lets my skin breathe.

Simple Hydrating Booster

Before I apply any moisturizer I apply this product. In addition to acne prone and sensitive skin, my skin can also be quite dry-especially with low temperatures outside. This booster soaks straight into your skin without leaving you oily or prone to breakouts. I typically use it about 3 times a week, but I up to every night sometimes during the colder winter months. This product also doesn’t make your face feel greasy at all.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer.

I have been using this specific moisturizer for probably about 3-4 years now. I apply it every morning and night and it never leaves my face feeling/looking greasy. It works great before makeup as well, I like to wait about 15 minutes to let it set it though. It’s light enough where you don’t feel like you are applying 10 pounds of product, but heavy enough where it’s actually moisturizing your face. It has never broken me out either! Another bonus is that there is SPF 15. I love how I have that added protection on a daily basis without needing to apply another product.

Yes To Carrots Mud Mask for Depleted Skin

This face mask might be my all time favorite. This one in particular is for depleted skin. It contains carrots and kale which is an awesome way of getting nutrients to your skin.  Yes, this mask is amazing, but my favorite part might be the fact that it applies orange to your face. I thought it was going to be your typical brown/gray mud mask color but nope-straight orange! In addition to being a great color, this mask really hydrates your skin and helps with any dryness I may have.
